Gynecomastia

Gynecomastia is a condition of over-developed or enlarged breasts in men that can occur at any age. The condition can be the result of hormonal changes, heredity, obesity, or the use of certain drugs. More often it can be without any other cause. 75 – 80 % boys are affected by this condition in their pubertal life but more often it regresses by itself. those who are left with it can be treated later.

Gynecomastia can cause emotional discomfort and impair your self confidence. Some men may even avoid certain physical activities and intimacy simply to hide their condition.

Gynecomastia is characterized by:

  • Excess localized fat
  • Excess glandular tissue development
  • Sometimes excess breast skin
  • Presence unilaterally (one breast) or bilaterally (both breasts)

More often boys go to Gym thinking that this fat will be dissolved by exercise. The gynecomastia fat is hormonal and does not get dissolved by exercise. Rather it is pushed forward by developing muscle beneath.
